Enactus ÎçÒ¹av earned national recognition for their project Spark at the Enactus Canada National Exposition in Calgary.

Spark—an initiative that aims to empower communities through financial literacy and entrepreneurship—was named the Best Project for the 2025 Jeanne Sauvé Global Project Accelerator. ÎçÒ¹avdent Harshene Kaur and recent graduates Ameri Suzuki and Darii Bodnar competed in the event.

“This award is a powerful affirmation that what Enactus ÎçÒ¹av stands for truly matters,” said Suzuki.

“Alongside the generous financial support from the Jeanne Sauvé Foundation, this recognition will play a crucial role in sustaining Spark’s mission of empowering the community through financial literacy initiatives.”

Last fall, Enactus ÎçÒ¹av was one of five teams from across Canada to earn $2,500 in funding from the Jeanne Sauvé Foundation to expand their project globally. This investment allowed Spark to extend its reach to India and empower diverse groups through financial security workshops, entrepreneurship fairs, and discounted fresh produce.

The success of their expansion led to this national recognition.

“This award opens doors for Spark, not only in terms of funding and recognition but also in terms of credibility for Enactus ÎçÒ¹av and our projects at the national level,” said Kaur.

“The Best Project Award showcases Spark's potential and strengthens the scope for future collaborations.”

About Enactus ÎçÒ¹av

Enactus ÎçÒ¹av is a group of talented and motivated ÎçÒ¹avdents from all disciplines striving to make a difference in their community through entrepreneurial action.

Kaur, a first-year ÎçÒ¹avdent from New Delhi, India, became interested in Enactus after discovering how it would connect to her studies in International Relations and Economics.

“I had been interested in financial literacy since high school and Spark's focus on financial issues complements my studies at ÎçÒ¹av. Enactus ÎçÒ¹av gives me an opportunity to apply my learning in a practical setting,” she said.

“As the incoming Vice President of Projects, this win drives me to lead our team with even greater confidence. I am excited for the growth of Spark and Enactus ÎçÒ¹av in the coming years.”
